Brian Weke in Court for Assaulting Millie Odhiambo's Political Rival for Mbita Seat James Akali

Nairobi based political activist Brian Weke found himself in court facing charges of assault.

Weke was accused of attacking Mbita constituency parliamentary aspirant James Akali and his bodyguard on April 28.

Weke was accused of committing the offence in the company of three others George Ochieng, Nicholas Olum and Asman Ngila.

A warrant of arrest was issued for the co-accused after they failed to present themselves before senior magistrate Hellen Onkwani at the Milimani Law courts.

The assault is alleged to have taken place at T- Mall soon after Millie Odhiambo narrowly beat James Akali for the Mbita ODM parliamentary ticket.

Police records indicate that at the time of the assault, Akali had travelled to Nairobi to challenge the nomination of Millie Odhiambo.

He was released on a Sh200,000 cash bail or Sh500,000 bond with the case set to be mentioned on June 12.

Milly Odhiambo lost one of her bodyguards ho was ran over by a speeding car during the nomination chaos.
