Burial processions and plans were thrown into total confusion, after the body set to be buried was reported missing.
Family and friends of the late Stephen Njau had all the preparations ready, only to receive the devastating news on the eve of the burial.
The body, which had been at Kenyatta National Hospital mortuary was reportedly involved in a mix up that saw it get tagged using the number of another body.
The mix up led to the body of Njau being handed over to a family in Meru.
To make matters worse, the family had already buried the body by the time mortuary attendants discovered the mistake.
The family of Njau is now waiting for the body of their loved one to be unearthed so they can re-bury it.
In the meantime, they continue planning for another fundraiser for the burial as the money collected for the first one was used in the preparations, despite the burial not having taken place.
