Businessman Takes Kidero To Court Over Mumias Troubles

Nairobi governor Evans Kidero is facing yet another court battle after a Nairobi businessman filed a case against him, for allegedly mismanaging Mumias Sugar company when he was the company's MD.

Jacob Juma moved to the High Court on Wednesday requesting that Kidero be arrested for allegedly diverting Sh650 million meant for Mumias to his personal account.

Juma wants Kidero charged for his alleged involvement in the troubles currently facing the company.

This comes even after the governor moved to court to bar Kakamega Senator Bonny Khalwale from linking him to the downfall of the company.

In his petition, Juma said that the Sh 2 billion the govrnment was offering towards the revival of the company was not going to be enough.

He now wants the governor declared unfit to hold public office and his bank accounts frozen.

The governor, however, maintains that the troubles at the sugar company began after he left.

He insists that he left the company in 2012 when it was still making profits.

The latest is a series of court cases against the governor.

He is has another case facing him after Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko accused him of defamation following his remarks terming Sonko as a drug dealer.
