Central Gem MCA Fred Ouda Asks Raila Odinga For Help After Losing in Kisumu Central ODM Nominations

Central Gem Member of County Assembly (MCA) Fred Ouda has appealed Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga to come to his aid after he lost the party nomination for Kisumu Central Constituency to incumbent Ken Obura.

Ouda gathered 13,613 votes against Obura's 24,601 which sparked protests after claims that the results had been doctored in an overnight scheme that allegedly saw Obura move from fifth to emerge the winner.

Ouda protested the results outlining that with his popularity on the ground and his unwavering support for former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, there was no way he could have lost the election.

"I don't want to blame this squarely on ODM but it is some cartels within ODM. I am sure my party leader is not aware of this," he lamented.

Ouda urged the party leader to intervene as a gesture of good will since he and Odinga had been good friends for a long time.

"I love Raila so much, and I have been a dedicated supporter of the ODM Party. I have worked closely with the former Prime Minister…there is no way I lost," Ouda noted.

The MCA hit headlines in 2015 when he stripped naked to protest against a message posted by a parody account which he confused with that of the Deputy President William Ruto.

In 2016, he was arrested after chaining himself to the gate of the Kisumu IEBC offices demanding the removal of the electoral body's Commissioners.
