Chaos have erupted in Migori town ahead of an ODM Party rally that is set to be presided by Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho who would endorse Suna East MP Junet Mohamed's re-election bid.
Reports indicate that Migori Governor Okoth Obado hired hooligans to block Joho, Junet, Siaya Senator James Orengo and the Opposition team from holding a rally at Migori Stadium.
Police have fired teargas canisters to disperse the ODM supporters.
Earlier in the day, ODM's Migori County office was partially burnt ahead of its official opening today.
Reports indicate that a petrol bomb was thrown over the perimeter wall on Sunday night, igniting the fire but residents rushed quickly to put it off.
Migori youth leader Eric Opany claimed a senior politician in the county was behind the attack as he had been attempting to stop the function since Sunday evening. He did not name the politician.
The drama is said to have begun yesterday night after the ODM event organisers were stopped from accessing the county stadium where they were to put up a podium and a public address system. They were apparently told to seek clearance from the Migori government.
