An officer affiliated to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) was arrested on Tuesday after he was caught robbing shops in Eastleigh Nairobi.
The officer attached to Kasarani Criminal Intelligence Unit, was caught alongside seven other suspects who broke into Mandera mall where they robbed at least three shops.
Constable Ismael Noor, and his collegues were in the process of stealing cash and jewelery when police acting on a tip off raided the mall.
Preliminary investigations revealed that all the targeted shops belonged to Noor Mohammed, a businessman in the area.
Two suspected getaway vehicles were also recovered at the crime scene and were impounded at Pangani Police Station.
The arrested suspects included Wycliffe Mugutu, Abdi Omar Hussein, Hassan Noor Mohammed, Sabdow Hussein Abdi, Abdinoor Hussein, Habib Abdi Hakim Osman and Mohammed Deq.
This comes months after two police officers were implicated in another Sh3 Million robbery at a mall in Eastleigh.
