An empty coffin was found lying at a compound in Webuye, Bungoma County, sparking fears and anxiey among residents who were not aware of how the casket got into the home.
The coffin was discovered early this week when the occupants of the home woke up to begin their daily errands, only to meet a desolate casket near the gate.
“I went to open the gate but was shocked to find a coffin lying next to the gate,” said Moses Soita, a household at the home.
Many claimed that the coffin may have been a plot by someone to cast a spell of death upon the home. The owner of the residence was forced to move to Nairobi after incessant wrangles with his brothers, leaving the house to other relatives.
A report by K24 stated that the incident was one of many bizarre occurrences in the area which continue to raise fear among residents.
“I live close by and I also found some blood-like substance smeared all over my compound,” said Robert Wanjala.
The coffin was taken to Bungoma East Divisional Police Headquarters.
