CORD Wants to Con Millions From Kenyans - Jubilee

Members of Parliament affiliated to the Jubilee Coalition accused the Opposition of tricking Kenyans into contributing money for their 2017 campaigns.

The National Alliance Chairman, Johnson Sakaja, dismissed an attempt by the Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (CORD) to save teachers through a solidarity account they set up terming it as a desperate move to get finances.

“The much-hyped rally has resulted in the Launch of an account where they are planning to swindle Kenyans to fund their 2017 campaigns. They can't even collect 1 million signatures or offer a solution to teachers' issues,” he stated.

Samburu Women Representative, Maison Leshomo raised questions regarding the authenticity of the account casting doubt on the intended charity fund.

“Who owns that M-pesa number that was publicly given? They are using it to illegally solicit money from Kenyans for their campaigns, pretending that the funds were meant to pay teachers,” she vented.

Leshomo insisted that the rally was a mockery to teachers who were eagerly waiting for a permanent solution to the crisis.

The sentiments from the Jubilee leaders came after Opposition Leader Raila Odinga opened an M-pesa solidarity account to save up money for teachers who are currently on strike over pay. Odinga and his co-principle Kalonzo Musyoka deposited Sh100,000 each into the account and championed Kenyans to join their cause.

CORD said the funds would be used to pay teachers who might not recieve their September Salaries.
