Education Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i on Wednesday officially released results of the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) and congratulated 12 counties for not participating in any form of cheating.
"In these counties there were no cases of exam irregularities reported, therefore they should be congratulated for the job well done," said CS Matiang'i.
The counties included:
1. Taita Taveta
2. Mombasa
3. Kilifi
4.Tana River
5. Nyeri
6. Kiambu
7. Kirinyaga

Taita Taveta, Tana River, Nyeri, Kirinyaga and Siaya were also not involved in examination irregularities in the year 2014.
The CS warned the other 35 out of 47 counties who recorded 2,709 cases of cheating, stating that stern action would be taken against the schools involved.
The CS also announced that there was a significant drop of seven points in the performance of public schools across the country while private schools improved highly owing to problems of teacher absenteeism and strikes.
"Public schools’ mean score declined by 7 points from 187.8 to 180.7 while that of private schools increased by a point from 229.4 to 230 in 2015," said Mr Matiang'i.
He further stated that female candidates performed better than their male counterparts in English and Kiswahili subjects.
