CS Hassan Wario Storms out of Meeting with CAF Officials to Attend Prayers

Sports Cabinet Secretary Hassan Wario on Friday reportedly stormed out of a crucial meeting with officials from the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to attend prayers.

Wario, who is a devout Muslim, was discussing Kenya's preparation to host the 2018 African Nations Championships (Chan) with CAF officials led by their vice-president Suketu Patel,  at his Kencom House office.

Before the meeting was over, Wario responded to one question from a journalist but stormed out without informing the officials.

“It is encouraging to hear that CAf isn’t here to police, but help us plan for the tournament. We have not refused to make public our plans, instead, we staggered things because one can handle one thing at a time.

"We await the CAF report on our preparedness and that will help us plan,” Mr Wario stated before he left in a huff.

Meanwhile, Mr Patel stated that Kenya had to be ready by October or else the competition would be taken away.

CAF is the administrative and controlling body for African association football. The body represents the national football associations of Africa and controls the prize money, regulations and media rights to those competitions.
