Raila Odinga's Orange Democratic Movement(ODM)was on Thursday dealt a major blow after five politicians from Garissa county defected and joined the Jubilee Party.
President Uhuru Kenyatta on Thursday evening at State House Nairobi received Dadaab Member of Parliament Mohamed Dahir Duale, the speaker of Garissa County Assembly and three Members of Garissa County Assembly who had defected from ODM and joined his Jubilee Party.
The President while receiving the defectors mentioned that the Government would transform the country as it was doing in other parts of the country. Kenyatta cited the construction of the Garissa-Modangashe Road, saying other roads within the county would also be built.
On his part, Mr Dahir noted that he left the Opposition because he and his constituents were convinced that Jubilee was the better option as it had initiated a lot of development projects in the region with the latest being the construction of Garissa-Modangashe road.
“For the first time, our people have been given IDs, documents they have sought and waited for decades,” Dahir Noted.
Lagdera MP Mohamed Shidiye, who led the delegation to State House, indicated the Aulihan community was grateful to the President for accepting to host them and expressed confidence that Uhuru would win in Garissa County.
“I am the only TNA MP in the North Eastern region. Am happy today I have been joined by my community in Jubilee Government, currently, we have approximately 80,000 votes in Garissa County which we have resolved to give you,” Shidiye stated.
The President had earlier on received a delegation from Narok County and announced that he would visit the region and Wajir on Friday.
