Danson Mungatana Goes Back to Jubilee After Decamping to NASA

Former Garsen Member of Parliament Danson Mungatana, who had decamped from the Jubilee Party to National Super Alliance (NASA), on Thursday made a U-turn back to Jubilee.

Interestingly, the change of heart happened within a day.

The former Assistant Minister had left the ruling party on Wednesday, March 15, after President Uhuru Kenyatta welcomed Tana River County Governor Hussein Dado from the Wiper Party to Jubilee over the weekend.

Mungatana, who is eyeing the Tana River Governor’s seat, claimed he felt sidelined when Uhuru received Dado into Jubilee.

Despite claims that he had joined Musalia Mudavadi’s Amani National Congress (ANC) after there were photos of him clad in an ANC-branded scarf on social media, Mungatana argued he did not join any other party.

He maintained that his move to NASA was a strategic plan but residents encouraged him to go back to Jubilee.

“I did not go to ANC alone, in fact, I also went up to ODM and several other parties but I am still in Jubilee,” Mungatana told a local daily.

Mungatana, who is a renowned lawyer, first joined Parliament in 2002 on a Narc-Kenya ticket as one of the four directly elected MPs.

He is looking to defeat his rivals in the Jubilee Party ticket nominations.
