DP Ruto Confronts Youth for Heckling During Rally

Deputy President William Ruto on Tuesday descended his anger on a man who tried to heckle during a voter mobilisation rally in Kiminini, Trans Nzoia county.

The DP is said to have been angered by one of the residents, who shouted down area Women representative Janet Nangabo who was addressing the rally.

An irate Ruto shut down the youth, who is said to be a Ford Kenya supporter, stating: "Who forced you to attend this meeting? You should have stayed away at your home instead of coming to heckle leaders.”

At the same venue, the DP was engaged in a verbal exchange with area MP Chris Wamalwa who urged the government to stop wasting time wooing residents of the region with development initiatives.

“We love you and we appreciate development projects initiated by the Jubilee government in the county but the truth of the matter is that this is an opposition zone and JP should stop wasting time luring residents," Wamalwa declared.

In a rejoinder, a seemingly irritated Ruto dismissed the MP's statement as a personal opinion.

"What do you mean that Jubilee has no room here? That is your personal statement and does not represent the feeling of the locals," Ruto was quoted by the Standard.

Earlier on, there had been tension following a confrontation between police officers and a crowd which attempted to block the road leading to Masaba primary school, where DP Ruto's helicopter was to land.

The incident comes a day after another group forced Ruto to change his route and cancel a planned rally in Bungoma.

They barricaded Bungoma bus stage and began chanting ODM slogans compelling Ruto’s motorcade to divert from the main Mumias road to Kanduyi town.
