Economist David Ndii Picked to Head NASA Technical Committee That Will Craft Unity Formula

The National Super Alliance (NASA) has picked a prominent economist and scholar to head its technical team that will work out a formula for ensuring unity as it seeks to dislodge Jubilee from power in the August 8 General Election.

Dr. David Ndii, a PhD holder from the prestigious Oxford University, will be leading a 6-member team that comprises some of Kenya's top brains.

Ndii, who is also a popular columnist with the Saturday Nation, will work alongside East African Legislative Assembly member Abubakar Zein, Chairman of Mumia Sugar Company Dan Ameyo, public policy expert Koitamet ole Kina, and CORD Secretariat Executive Director Norman Magaya.

The Daily Nation has reported that an unidentified lady, who is allied to Ford-Kenya leader Moses Wetangula, is also in the technical committee.

The Standard on Monday reported that the formula on distribution of top positions among the four NASA principals is ready.

However, the Daily Nation reported its sources indicating that Ndii's team is not limited to the presidential election but also the structures that will guide all other positions.

The 6-member committee is working in coordination with another 12-member political committee headed by Siaya Senator James Orengo.

The expert’s committee is reported to be keen on joint nominations for all positions to enhance NASA’s chances of controlling both the Senate and the National Assembly, as well as the counties.

This is driven by the fear that the constituent parties may split their votes in certain battlegrounds and end up handing over victory to the Jubilee candidates.

In Mombasa, for example, the gubernatorial position has attracted two candidates from Wiper (Hassan Omar and Hezron Awiti), while the incumbent, Ali Hassan Joho, is expected to defend his seat on an ODM ticket.
