Fear Grips Residents As Terror Leaflets Found In School

Resident of Kapsowar village in Elgeyo Marakwet County are in panic after leaflets were circulated warning of an impending attack targeting learning institutions in the region.

The leaflets were found by a teacher stuffed under a classroom door in a primary school and are believed to have been written by the terror group Al Shabaab.

The Standard Newspaper reports that the leaflets claimed that Al Shabaab had operatives in the region who will carry out bombings in learning institutions following the government's announcement that it will close the Daadab refugee camp, yet Kenyan soldiers are still in Somalia.

Residents now want security to be increased in the region. The areas chief called on residents to be calm, and to enhance the Nyumba Kumi Initiative

Area MP William Kisang called on the county government to assign more police officers to the region.
