Former NIS Director's Bodyguard Attacked, Loses Gun

The body guard of former Director-General of the National Intelligence Service is nursing head injuries after being attacked by suspected thugs on Thika Road.

Michael Gichangi's bodyguard was roughed up on Monday at 3am by three men, who beat his head with a blunt object and made away with his gun, Nation reports.

Starehe OCPD Bernard Nyakwaka confirmed the incident, saying the officer was rushed to a General Service Unit dispensary, before being taken to the Kenyatta National Hospital.

Nyakwaka said that the officer was in stable condition although they were yet to recover his pistol.

This incident comes weeks after an MP's bodyguard shot and killed three robbers in a fierce shoot-out near Umoja in Nairobi.
