The Al-Shabaab Commander who masterminded the Garissa University College attack has been killed in Somalia.
Reports indicate that Mohamed Kuno alias Gamadheere alias Dulyadayn was shot dead on Tuesday night near Kismayo together with his driver and two guards.
Commander of Jubaland forces Gen Aadan Koojar confirmed to Somali media that indeed Kuno was killed in a night assault said to have been carried out by Somali forces supported by foreign special forces.
The Kenyan government had circulated Kuno's photo and offered a Sh20 Million reward for information that could lead to his capture.
Kuno was blamed for leading the 2015 Garrissa attack that left at least 148 people dead.
The attack was termed the deadliest on Kenyan soil and was condemned by top leaders including United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon.
In July last year, there were reports that Mr Kuno had been killed in a morning airstrike in Juungal, but the Kenyan government later confirmed that he was not among those neutralised.
Kuno, who was a Kenyan from the North Eastern region, was a madrasa teacher before joining Al Shabaab militia group in Somalia.
