Gem Member of Parliament Jakoyo Midiwo has come under fire for endorsing Rarieda MP Nicolas Gumbo for the Siaya Governor seat.
Mr Midiwo, who is also Raila Odinga's cousin, has been sternly warned against acting in the capacity of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader to declare that the said aspirant was the most preferred candidate.
Engineer Carey Orege, a Siaya governor hopeful in the ODM Party, claimed that Midiwo had formed a select panel which was supposedly lying to the electorate that the Gumbo team is the winning camp.
"It’s not bad to be in camps but don’t mislead voters that you have the power to decide who will be the next governor. Let the race be fair, and the best player win," Orege lamented.
The former Regional Development Principal Secretary dismissed Midiwo, noting that leaders like Siaya Senator James Orengo have more weight in county politics than he has.
Midiwo had earlier backed businessman William Oduol for the post but after a nasty fallout, he joined Gumbo's bid.
In addition, the Gem MP has been vocal about his disapproval of the incumbent Siaya Governor, Cornel Rasanga, alleging that he has been a disgrace to the people who voted him in and the proponents of devolution by embezzling county funds and propagating nepotism.
