Governor 'Gatecrashes' Uhuru's Meeting

Members of Parliament from Machakos have come out to sharply criticise Governor Alfred Mutua for seemingly hijacking a meeting of Kamba professionals with President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto, which they had planned for almost one month.

According to the lawmakers, Mutua who was not featured in the meeting's programme, went behind their backs and posed as the person who was leading the professionals to meet with President Kenyatta.

Mwingi Central MP Joe Mutambu, who was reportedly supposed to be leading the delegation, stated that he was shocked when a day to the gathering he learnt that the Governor was going to head the meeting.

It is reported that Mutua was out of the country but disrupted his tour to attend and take over the Presidential meeting.

On the day of the gathering, the Machakos Governor is said to have displaced Mutambu, who was supposed to invite DP Ruto, ten minutes before the programme at State House kicked off.

Mutambu indicated that the Governor's action was disrespectful as they had taken a lot of time to prepare for the session, which he (Mutua) was not involved in.

Other leaders including Mbooni MP Kisoi Munyao joined in to bash Mutua whom they accused of using the forum to promote his Maendeleo Chap Chap initiative.

"All those people who were there, were there specifically to focus on development and not installation of anyone as kingpin," Munyao stated.

However, Machakos town MP Victor Munyaka noted that: “No one hijacked the meeting and those leaders who failed to attend had been threatened by top Wiper-Party leaders. Memorandum presented to President Uhuru Kenyatta was presented by all leaders.”

President Kenyatta on Tuesday hosted over 10,000 leaders and professionals from the region and listed projects he intended to initiate or commission in Ukambani.
