Governor William Kabogo Claims William Ruto Bribed Jubilee Officials Bribed to Rig Him Out of Kiambu Race

Kiambu Governor William Kabogo has now revealed how Deputy President (DP) William Ruto allegedly used money to frustrate his bid for the Jubilee party ticket to defend his seat.

In an interview with a local newspaper, Kabogo stated that the DP gave out money at Jubilee Party headquarters to ensure that he failed in the Jubilee nominations.

"We saw so and so receiving money from a black Mercedes Benz at Jubilee headquarters. They would go to a hotel and plan how to rig and the people who were planning mentioned the DP's name," Kabogo told The Star.

Kabogo disclosed that he had evidence including recordings linking Ruto to a scheme that saw him rigged out of the race.

The Kiambu Governor stated that it was unfortunate that the DP could stoop so low to interfere in the county politics and impose leaders on the people.

"I am a man full of anger and bitterness but I realised this will not help my people. I had opted to concentrate on my business and watch things unfold from the fence but then my love for the people of Kiambu drove me back," he said.

Kabogo maintained that he won the nominations but only decided to concede to Kabete Member of Parliament (MP) Ferdinand Waititu after Ruto's alleged manipulation of the exercise.

The Governor fell out with Ruto last year after he told the DP to his face that Central Kenya region voters would not automatically support his bid for the presidency in 2022.

Kabogo also affirmed his support for Uhuru Kenyatta but faulted him for placing Raphael Tuju in charge of the party nominations.

On Sunday, he announced that he would be defending his seat as an independent candidate, a decision he claimed was reached after consultation with his supporters.
