Health Cabinet Secretary Cleopha Mailu has announced that stern action will be taken against alleged nurses threatening to handle patients inhumanely.
In screen shots that were widely circulated on social media, the said nurses made outrageous threats such as they could unplug a patient's life support machine if they needed to charge their mobile phone.
Addressing the matter, Mr Mailu stated that investigations had been launched to verify if the persons behind the statements were real nurses.
“I have asked the Director of Medical Services and the Nursing Council of Kenya to investigate the matter. Of course, we have to get to the bottom of this so that we can weed out rogue nurses who are mandated to care for the sick,” Mailu was quoted by Nairobi News.
The alarming messages angered Kenyans on social media with many expressing disbelief at how a nurse could treat patients so callously.
