Hopeful Beginning as Recovering Alcoholics Join Training Programs

More than 50 recovering alcoholics in Kiambu County have taken up training for technical skills as part of the process of rebuilding their lives.

This comes in the wake of the second phase of a crackdown on illegal alcohol across the country as per the order given by President Uhuru Kenyatta.

The first phase of the crackdown saw the rise of unprecedented problems revolving around addicts who heavily relied on the alcohol.

Some resorted to suicide, while others were hospitalized with extreme withdrawal symptoms.

Consequently, rehabilitation centers were put up in some of the most affected counties.

The group from Kiambu, therefore, come as a step in the right direction for the youth who are trying to reclaim their lives.

They have joined Munyu Training Institute for skills in electrical works and agribusiness.

Speaking to the youth, Kiambu Member of Parliament Jude Njomo pledged to work with government agencies to help more addicts get rehabilitation support.
