I Am Not Stepping Down For Peter Kenneth - Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko Declares

Senator Mike Sonko has responded to claims that he had stepped down for businessman Peter Kenneth in the race to become the next Nairobi Governor.

Sonko took to his Facebook account to quash the rumours that were going around, saying he had no intention of stepping down for anybody and it was up to the people to decide.

“Propaganda machinery at work. I'm not stepping down for anyone. Let the Great people of Nairobi decide,” he stated via his Facebook account.

On Wednesday afternoon, hashtag #SonkoStepsDownforPK was trending and Kenyans gave their views on the same.

Sonko and Kenneth are set to battle it out in the Jubilee Party primaries for the governorship ticket and the two have been at loggerheads for a while now.

Word has been going around that top officials within Jubilee intend to lock out Sonko in favour of Kenneth, but the flamboyant politician has remained steadfast in his quest stating that he will not back down anytime soon.

This comes just two days after it was alleged that President Uhuru Kenyatta had offered his full backing to Kenneth, allegations he (Uhuru) strongly refuted saying that there were no preferred candidates in his party.
