Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho has clarified why he lectured President Uhuru Kenyatta during the launch of development projects in his County.
Speaking before leaving for Ghana to attend the inauguration of the country's president-elect, Joho stated that his words were not an attack on the Head of State but he was just reprimanding the Jubilee government.
He maintained that he did not have a personal problem with Kenyatta but was just speaking on behalf of the people he represents.
Joho sought to negate the notion that he had launched a personal attack, which some said was disrespectful to Kenyatta.
“I did not mention Uhuru in my speech. I did not tell him as a person. I said the Jubilee government should show us what projects they have done in Mombasa since they came to power,” he stated.
The governor insisted that he would continue reminding the government that his County had not benefited from the current administration.
“They went to Western region and gave out billions. They went to Central and farmers were given billions for their debts. Why can’t Mombasa get the same treatment?” he questioned.
The ODM deputy leader on Thursday publicly criticised the government accusing it of taking credit for old projects which it had not launched.
Governor Joho insisted that Jubilee ought to come up with new initiatives to benefit the county and not rely on old ones which began during previous regimes and were funded by international donors.
