IEBC Addresses How to Change Polling Stations Ahead of General Election

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has issued an important message to Kenyans wishing to change their polling station due to varied reasons ahead of the August 8th General Election.

An IEBC official in charge of registration told Kenyans.co.ke that the transfer should be done at the Constituency offices where application forms can be filed to kick start the process.

After this, the electoral body will use the registration details on the Biometric Voter Registration (BVR) system to transfer voters to the new constituency of their choice.

According to IEBC, this ought to be done during the one-month mass registration timeline (January 16 to February 15).

On Monday, the Commission rolled out the second mass voter registration exercise. Speaking to journalists, IEBC Chief Executive Officer Ezra Chiloba stated that the Commission will be targeting young adults who have just acquired Identification Cards (IDs) but are yet to register as voters.

"Records with the registration bureau shows that nine million Kenyan adults have identification cards but are yet to register," Mr Chiloba said.
