The Council of Imams and Preachers of Kenya in Mombasa is today evening set to conduct special prayers for embattled Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho at Caltex grounds in Likoni.
According to their head, Sheikh Abdallah Mohamed, the woes bedevilling Joho were getting out of hand, hence, it would be important to seek Allah's intervention.
"Our aim is to seek Allah's intervention in the political tension in Mombasa involving the Governor. All we need is an amicable solution to these issues," he stated.
Sheikh Mohamed noted that the troubles facing Governor 001 had become a personal attack by a senior government official in the Jubilee administration.
"We saw the issues that surrounded Joho at first as political but they seem to be personal by leaning on one person, which to us is not fair at all.
“If matters surrounding the Governor are not handled amicably, we fear there could be unnecessary violence and animosity between his supporters and those of other governor candidates," Mohamed stated.
Joho, who has been under intense scrutiny from the national government, on Wednesday recorded a statement with the police over allegations that he forged his KCSE result slip.
A day later, the High Court barred him from withdrawing money in six of his bank accounts until the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) completes the assessment of his tax returns.
