A manager at a flower export firm in Kitengela, was on Wednesday charged in court with theft of Kenya Power poles and underground cables worth a total of Sh1.8 Million.
The manager who is an Israeli national, denied the charges before Kajiado Senior Principal Magistrate Stephen Mbungi, claiming that he did not handle stolen property.
Pinchas Lewenstein, a senior Electrical Engineer at Carnation Plants, allegedly stole 11 wooden poles - 32 feet each - , 2,000 metres of aluminium cable and 50 metres of underground cable.
Mr Lewenstein who was arrested on Tuesday by Kitengela police officers, also allegedly restricted Kenya Power employees from accessing his premises, where he had supposedly connected power illegally.
The foreigner was charged for the offence of wrongful power connection, and released on a Sh1 Million bail with a surety of the same amount.
The accused was ordered to deposit his passport in the court as he awaited another hearing on December 7.
