The Kenya Meteorological Department has warned of fluctuating weather patterns over Easter festivities, especially in areas like Naivasha, which is hosting the World Rally Championships (WRC).

In a statement released on Thursday, March 28, the department warned that there would be occasional rainfall over the weekend in Naivasha with intermittent sunny intervals.

Therefore, Kenyans intending to spectate in the world sporting event were advised to prepare for the weather patterns and adequately factor in advisory when choosing what to wear.

Further, it was indicated that more advisories would be issued during the event to help Kenyans experience the rally better.

"Participants & spectators at the Naivasha #WRCSafariRally2024 should be prepared for potential rainfall over the weekend, with intermittent sunny intervals likely.

"Keep an eye on the weather forecast and pack accordingly will ensure a smooth experience despite the rain," read the advisory in part.

The Safari Rally commenced on March 28 and will end on Sunday, March 31.

Meanwhile, most parts of the country are expected to experience rainfall over the Easter period, especially the Rift Valley where it will experience heavy rainfall.

"Isolated heavy rainfall events are likely to occur in some parts of the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, the Rift Valley, the South-eastern lowlands and the Coast," read the weather projections in part.

Notably, showers and thunderstorms will be experienced in parts of Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang'a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, Tharaka and Nairobi counties on Easter Monday.

On the other hand, the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has advised Kenyans to be cautious on the road given the anticipated activities on the road for Easter.

Among the guidelines, NTSA is encouraging motorists to observe the required speed limit and turn on headlights when it is raining.
