Gem Member of Parliament Jakoyo Midiwo has sent a warning to the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leadership ahead of the August polls over bungled elections.
The long ally and cousin of ODM party leader Raila Odinga, warned that the party’s supporters in Nyanza could rebel against ODM for bungling the nomination exercise.
Midiwo added that the party must move with speed and resolve what they termed massive irregularities in the nominations or face a revolt from voters.
“We will not kneel before ODM disputes tribunal for redress on bungled elections. If we don’t get the certificates by today evening, we are going to fight for our rights as independent candidates,” said Midiwo.
He added that the “mess” in the nominations will affect Raila’s performance in the August 8 polls.
The Leader of Minority flanked by Rarieda MP Nicholas Gumbo accused nominated MP Oburu Oginga of having a hand in the primaries and imposing leaders on the people.
“We have stood with ODM more than anyone else in this county, Jakoyo’s commitment in protecting ODM and its leaders is only second to that of James Orengo in the entire Nyanza region,” said Gumbo.
Gumbo claimed that ODM’s National Elections Board posted partisan officials in Siaya to favour their opponents in the just concluded primaries.
The two, Jakoyo Midiwo and Nicholas Gumbo lost in the just concluded party nominations but contested the results claiming that there were glaring irregularities.
