Joho to Announce Political Future of Coastal Region

Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho has declared that he will make a major announcement during a public rally set to be held on Sunday.

Addressing the press on Friday, Joho stated that the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) was planning to hold a rally at the Tononoka Grounds in Mombasa, where he would announce the political future of the Coastal region.

Joho stated that area leaders have been engaging in different negotiations to consolidate the unity of the Coast ahead of the mega rally.

He added that they had also extended their invitation to ODM leader Raila Odinga to grace the event.

At the same time, he issued a stern warning to the Jubilee government which he accused of using "old methods" of disrupting their rallies by deploying police officers.

He also publicly issued a notice of the meeting adding that the same had been extended to the authorities, who had already given the event a green light.

The governor warned the officers against conducting any other business during the rally, maintaining that all ODM requires is to be provided with security, failure to which the Party would make its own arrangements regarding the same.

Joho affirmed that the event would be purely political and the Orange party would encourage its supporters to maintain peace and order to avoid any altercations.

He further lamented an incident where anti-riot police lobbed teargas cannisters disrupting a public forum at Kinango in Kwale County, which he was supposed to address.
