Joho Cancels Kibra Rally for Budget Reading Ceremony

Mombasa County Governor Hassan Joho has called off a rally that was to be held in Kibra, Nairobi.

Joho suspended the meeting by Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leaders due to the budget reading ceremony set for Thursday afternoon.

The ODM deputy leader noted that the budget reading, which is to take place in Parliament, was an important national function which necessitated the cancellation.

He, however, assured that a new date for the rally would be announced after consultations.

On Wednesday Joho told his supporters that he would hold a rally in Nairobi which is closer to President Uhuru Kenyatta in order to tell him 'the truth'.

Joho was speaking minutes after being questioned at the Mombasa Police Headquarters for allegedly forging his KCSE result slip.

He was interrogated for close to two hours by a team of DCI sleuths sent from Nairobi headquarters led by Assistant Commissioner of police Samuel Nyambengi.

The Governor later hit out at President Kenyatta accusing him of being behind the whole certificate drama.

“President Uhuru is using too much energy to frustrate me. I am telling him to convert that energy to reducing the price of maize flour, to fighting corruption and improving the lives of Kenyans,” the Governor strongly stated.
