Joho Criticises Uhuru for Launching an Old Ferry in Mtongwe

Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho has revealed what he planned to do during President Uhuru Kenyatta's event which he was blocked from attending on Monday.

Speaking in Taita Taveta at the start of a six-day tour of the Coastal region, Joho revealed that he intended to castigate President Kenyatta for travelling to Mtongwe to launch a ferry that was more than 30 years old in the pretence that it was a new Jubilee project.

Joho claimed that the Jubilee administration knew he would “tell them the truth” about the project and that is why they ensured he would not set foot at the launch.

“A whole President, his deputy, Ministers and Principal Secretaries went all the way to Mtongwe to launch an old ferry. A ferry whose engine doesn't even work effectively. They knew I would have pointed it out and told the President to stop hoodwinking us,” he divulged.

He maintained that he would not relent in criticising the National Government for what he termed hijacking County projects and passing them as its own.

Joho firmly stated that he would not be cowed from “saying the truth” adding that he was ready to sacrifice his life for the sake of his people.

The ODM deputy leader sought to clarify what has been described as disrespecting the President, stating that all he has been doing is protecting the rights of his electorate.

The governor maintained that he was neither afraid of those threatening him nor would he offer any apology to President Kenyatta.

“They have declared they will streamline me. My friend, don't try me and don't threaten me because life is given by God and not an individual. If it means losing my life for the sake of the sake then come for me right away,” he affirmed.

Joho is leading ODM in popularising itself and the National Super Alliance (NASA) in what seems to be a plan to neutralise the effect of last week's visit by Kenyatta where several leaders decamped from the Opposition to Jubilee.
