President Uhuru Kenyatta's Jubilee Party on Wednesday made drastic changes to its nomination plans, less than 48 hours before the much-anticipated primaries kick off.
Addressing the press, the Jubilee National Elections Board stated that the party would hold its nominations for three days and not one as earlier stated.
In the new arrangement, the Jubilee nominations will be held on 21st, 24th, and 25th of April.
On 21st April, Jubilee will hold nominations in 21 counties. On 24th the party would have nominations in Nairobi county alone. On 25th, the primaries will be conducted in the remaining 22 counties.
The party leadership explained that the change in dates was attributed to increased number of competitive counties from 33 to 45 which required a change in logistics.
The elections Board also noted that the move was aimed at reducing pressure and ensuring a free and credible process.
Jubilee had originally scheduled its nomination for Friday 21st April 2017.
