Jubilee Turns to CORD Over Teachers' Strike

Jubilee leaders have stated that Coalition for Reform and Democracy (CORD) were taking advantage of the teachers' strike and making a political issue out of it.

Senator Kithure Kindiki, urged the opposition to display 'sober and mature leadership' instead of engaging in a trivial approach that displayed their ignorance.

“If CORD leaders bothered to stop campaigning and read the constitution, they would know that the TSC is an independent constitutional body that is not under the Office of the President,” he stated.

He corrected the assumption by CORD which implies that the President had violated a court order, saying that it was far fetched because the order was not directed at the President.

The Senate majority leader, asserted that the government acted in good faith in regards to the teachers' welfare but reiterated President Uhuru Kenyatta's remarks that a hike in teachers' pay would have a spiral effect on other civil servants.

Jubilee advised the Opposition to give the government pointers on how to handle the Education crisis instead of organising protests and motions to impeach the President.

Education has been on a stand still in all public schools for approximately a month, with the stand-off proving futile since neither the Government nor the teachers is backing down.
