Jubilee Voters in Nandi Send Governor and All Members of County Assembly Home

Jubilee voters in Nandi County are set to make history in Kenya after voting out all their Members of County Assembly, allied to the party.

According to preliminary results seen by Kenyans.co.ke, the county’s electorate has phased out all of their MCA’s and ejected their Governor, Cleophas Lagat.

The incumbent governor has been floored by the current Senator Stephen Sang, 34, who might, in turn, become the youngest governor ever under the new constitutional dispensation.

Sang, who also currently holds the youngest senator in Kenya tag, has garnered 27, 336 votes thus far, while his main challenger - former Cabinet Minister Henry Kosgei - has obtained 12, 431.

Felix Kosgei, the current Agriculture Cabinet Secretary, has pulled 7,921 votes and the incumbent Cleophas Lagat is dragging the lot with  6,611 votes.

The same was replicated in Baringo County after Governor Benjamin Cheboi also suffered a humiliating defeat on Tuesday after was defeated by his close rival Stanley Kiptis.

Mr Kiptis pulled the rug off Mr Cheboi’s feet after emerging victorious in almost all polling centres in the county.

Preliminary results from Baringo Central only indicated that Governor Cheboi had garnered 4,964 votes against his opponent Stanley Kiptis who garnered 13,805 votes.

Baringo Central Member of Parliament Sammy Mwaita and his Mogotio counterpart Hellen Sambili also lost in the primaries.

Prof Sambili lost to Dr Daniel Tuitoek by over 5,000 votes after gannering 6,015 against Tuitoek's 11,994 votes.

Reports also indicate that all MCAs in Eldama Ravine are set to be fired by the voters as none of them has been voted back in the nominations.

This story is based on preliminary results and subject to change and announcement by the nominating party.
