Kalonzo Musyoka Demands Apology from ODM Secretary-General Agnes Zani Over Statement on NASA Flag-bearer

Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has demanded an apology from ODM Party Secretary-General Agnes Zani for claiming a report that was leaked to the media, revealing the National Super Alliance (NASA) flag-bearer, was true and valid.

Kalonzo asked Ms Zani to withdraw her remarks adding that NASA was yet to select its presidential candidate.

The report believed to have been leaked indicated that ODM leader Raila Odinga had been chosen as NASA presidential candidate with Kalonzo as his running mate, Musalia Mudavadi the Prime Minister while Bungoma Senator Moses Wetang’ula, would be given the position of Speaker of the National Assembly.

On Tuesday, Ms Zani, who represents Raila in the National Coordinating Committee (NCC), set the stage for a heated debate after she admitted that the leaked report was accurate.

According to Zani, the coordinating committee had concluded its task of identifying a flag bearer and submitted its report to the four principals for consultation and final decision.

The ODM Secretary-General's remarks sparked tension within NASA as affiliate parties in the coalition came out to strongly rubbish Zani's statement as propaganda.

Amani National Congress (ANC) Secretary-General Geoffrey Otsotsi dismissed Zani's remarks maintaining that his party was unaware of the report that is said to have been authored by the technical committee.

Meanwhile, Kalonzo has maintained that the NASA team has not reached any agreement on the flag-bearer.
