KANU's West Pokot Senator John Lonyangapuo Accuses Jubilee of Planning Violence

A fresh row is brewing between the independence party, Kenya African National Union (KANU) and President Uhuru Kenyatta-led Jubilee.

In the latest wrangles, a section of KANU leaders has accused Jubilee of planning violence in the Baringo and West Pokot region where both parties enjoy support.

Led by KANU's West Pokot Senator John Lonyangapuo, the leaders called for peaceful campaigns and accused the Jubilee party of plotting violence.

"These new parties with no policies are out to cause unrest," Lonyangapuo said.

This came following last Sunday's scramble for votes in the area which saw the two rival parties hold parallel rallies in the same area.

KANU party leader Gideon Moi also recently attacked Jubilee over the worrying state of security in the region.

KANU entered into a pact with Jubilee to support President Uhuru Kenyatta's reelection bid.

Under the pact, the party was to field candidates for other elective positions and this is possibly the cause of the latest row as each camp lures voters.

With no point men in the region, Jubilee will be banking on the support of KANU to make inroads in the Baringo and West Pokot.
