A Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) soldier committed suicide at his village in Busia County shortly after arriving from Somalia where he had been deployed.
It is reported that Joash Ochieng Magar was due to retire on March 12 this year.
According to his family, the 52-year-old returned from the war zone with mental problems and was on leave at the time he hanged himself.
In a report by the Standard, police confirmed launching investigations to establish the cause of the serviceman's death.
In January, another KDF officer returning from Somalia was killed at his door step in what was later reported to have been a crime of passion, allegedly committed by the wife's lover.
