KDF Soldier Killed After Returning From Somalia Was Set Up

A Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) soldier, who was found dead outside his home two days after returning from Somalia, was allegedly killed in a love triangle.

It is reported that Stanley Kipkolomit was brutally murdered at his door step by Solomon Kipkurui, a bodaboda operator at Kaprokonya village in Kabarnet town, Baringo County, in a malicious scheme believed to be a set up by the soldier’s wife.

According to the soldier’s daughter, her mother, Nancy Kendagor, took long to respond to the knock at their door and her grandmother’s voice chatting with some people outside.

“I heard him knock the door several times, but mum delayed a bit. As she went to open the door, I heard my father shouting from behind the house, but when I was about to wake up she ordered me back to bed and picked a torch and proceeded towards the entrance,” the girl said as reported by SDE.

William Cherambus, the soldier's elder brother, said that the murder of their brother did not come as a surprise since it was well known that Kipkurui was having an affair with Kipkolomit's wife.

"Kipkurui was spotted sharpening a butcher’s knife two days after my brother’s return, I suspect he used the same knife to kill my brother after  he  found him in his house and suspected that he was  having an affair with his wife,” Cherumbas confirmed.

Meanwhile, the Kabarnet police officers have for a second time requested a Kabarnet court for time to conclude their investigations.

County Criminal Investigations Officer, John Momanyi, confirmed that the suspect was still at large and his phone had been switched off.

The slain soldier was reportedly deployed to Somalia in December 2014, and had returned home prior to the Al Shabaab attack on KDF's El-Adde Camp in Gedo, where an unspecified number of Kenyan Troops were felled.
