Kenyans Refuse to Help Baringo Children, Attack Leaders

Kenyans on Twitter refused to contribute to an initiative aimed at helping school children in Baringo, who use stones as chairs and study under tress.

The #EducationCrisisInBaringo initiative was on Monday spearheaded by State House Director of Digital Communication Dennis Itumbi, but sparked mixed reactions from the citizenry.

Kenyans called upon Baringo Governor Benjamin Cheboi, Baringo Senator Gideon Moi and Tiaty MP Asman Kamama to first do their jobs before a national fundraiser was done.

Many questioned Mr Itumbi for asking for money from Kenyans, citing that taxes were being payed for the purpose of improving such facilities across the country.

Mr Itumbi pledged to donate 10 desks,10 bags of cement & a Lorry of stones/bricks and further rallied more Kenyans towards the initiative.

The contention came after a report by Citizen TV,  showing children in lower primary at Nachurur Primary School, Tiaty Constituency, studying while sitting on stones and getting distracted by grazing cows and passers by.

Here are some of the reactions:

Before fundraising for #EducationCrisisInBaringo, shouldn't Tiaty MP Asman Kamama be telling us what he has done with his CDF?

We pay taxes and CDF exists, why should Kenyans give bags of cement again? @OleItumbi government has failed. https://t.co/NHAUy3ySYY
