Kidero Claims Credit for Opening of Kayole-Mihang’o Road by KDF

Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero on Thursday narrated the long struggle he underwent to ensure the Kayole-Mihang’o road was opened after the Kenya Defense Forces (KDF) temporary blocked it.

“I personally called President Uhuru (Kenyatta), I took KDF to court and after I fight hard for you people, someone else runs to say it was his doing,” Kidero stated.

The Governor was speaking in Kayole where he also ordered the contractors to hasten the tarmacking of the road.

Kidero admitted to the residents that he was hopeful the construction of the road would help in his 2017 re-election bid.

“I am directing the contractor to finish the work before July next year. As I campaign I will use the road as my campaign tool to get votes from the people of Mihango,” he stated.

The road has for the last month been the subject of legal and political machinations.

The controversy emerged after KDF started digging trenches across the road in October.

Residents later demonstrated and forced City Hall to move to Court which later ruled in their favour.

Unfortunately, implementation of the court order became difficult forcing President Kenyatta to intervene in the matter and force KDF to re-open the road.

Jubilee leaders had earlier claimed credit for the opening of the road thus prompting the response from Kidero.
