Kidero Orders Arrest of Politicians Speaking Vernacular During Campaigns in Nairobi

Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero has issued strict orders to politicians campaigning in the City ahead of the much-awaited August 8 Election.

Mr Kidero instructed his County Askaris to arrest anyone caught speaking in their ethnic language during a public rally.

The Nairobi boss' rules come a day after President Uhuru Kenyatta's rally in the Capital, where he urged residents to vote out Kidero in the next poll.

During his tour, Mr Kenyatta addressed locals in Kikuyu language pinpointing failures of Kidero's Government.

Mr Kidero sharply criticised the Head of State noting that Nairobi was a metropolitan and cannot be addressed in one ethnic language.

The Head of State accused Kidero of frustrating hawkers through his County Askaris.

"You know what sufferings the Nairobi County Government has caused you for the last four years. If you want a government that will benefit you then you have to register as a voter," Kenyatta said.
