The missing daughter of Machakos Deputy Governor Bernard Kiala has been found, barely six hours after a group of elders threatened to curse her alleged kidnappers.
Kiala's daughter, a university student, was found on Thursday morning in Mwiki and taken to record a statement at the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) headquarters in Kiambu.
On Tuesday, Kamba elders led by one Paul Musembi, gave the suspected abductors seven days to return the daughter or face dire consequences when they conduct a traditional ritual popularly known as 'Kithitu’.
“If they want peace, let them release Kiala’s daughter without any demands because if they don’t, we will teach them the lesson of their lifetime. This is totally unacceptable.
“Those trying to intimidate Kiala to stop his Machakos governorship bid will be in for a rude shock. You cannot ask someone to drop is bid by kidnapping his kid, that is a very inhumane way of doing things,” Musembi stated.
The kidnappers had told Kiala to drop his interest in the Machakos gubernatorial race if he wanted to see the daughter again.
The girl had been missing for over a week.
