Kisumu Governor Jack Ranguma Blames ODM for Poor Performance

Kisumu Governor Jack Ranguma on Wednesday surprised residents of his county after he admitted that he had failed to perform well because of the numerous rallies held by ODM where he is a member.

Ranguma claimed that his party leader Raila Odinga had been planning numerous rallies across the country and could not afford to miss them for fear of being seen as a turncoat.

“I once had a chat with an ambassador and informed him of my plans for the development of Kisumu County and he invited me to Estonia twice to discuss the development agenda of the county. I could not go and miss ODM rallies, lest people say I am not with baba (Raila Odinga),” the governor told residents while presiding over an online business licensing platform at the Kisumu City Hall.

Just last week, the Kisumu Governor was reportedly injured after chaos broke out during a major party rally held in Homabay.

He was hit by a stray stone while trying to separate two ODM politicians who wrestled after disagreeing during a rally that was presided over by Odinga.

Ranguma is facing a tough re-election battle from the county Senator Anyang’ Nyong’o who will be seeking to unseat him in the upcoming polls.

The two are also expected to face off at the ODM primaries.

Prof. Nyong’o has accused the governor of failing in the promises he made before being elected to power.
