Kitui West MP Francis Nyenze Endorses Raila Odinga as Opposition Flag Bearer 1 Week After Rejecting NASA Line Up

Kitui West Member of Parliament (MP) Francis Nyenze has had a change of mind and announced that he is comfortable with ODM leader Raila Odinga as the National Super Alliance (NASA) presidential candidate.

In a press conference addressed by Wiper chief Kalonzo Musyoka, the Minority in the National Assembly maintained that he believed Musyoka was the best candidate for NASA but had to support Odinga to ensure the unity of NASA and the Wiper party.

Musyoka also disclosed that Nyenze skipped the unveiling of the NASA flag bearer at Uhuru Park because he was frustrated. During the Uhuru park rally, prominent politicians from the Eastern region including Machakos Senator Johnson Muthama and Charity Ngilu were conspicuously missing.

The former Vice President defended Nyenze stating that he was just expressing his personal opinion by rejecting Odinga's selection as the presidential candidate.

This comes a day after the NASA principals and National Coordinating Committee held a retreat at the Coast.

Prior to the retreat, Machakos Senator Muthama indicated that they had some housekeeping to do ahead of selling the Raila-Kalonzo candidature to Kenyans.

Nyenze, Kitui Senator David Musila and a section of Kamba leaders had earlier on held a press conference indicating that the Kamba nation had been shortchanged in the deal that saw Odinga unveiled as the flag bearer.

The Minority leader has in the past received a backlash from Opposition politicians and supporters accusing him of being used by Jubilee to destroy NASA plans.
