Lamu Governor Sends Confusing Signals after Hinting Second Defection to Jubilee

President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto have been left in confusion after a recent meeting with Lamu Governor Issa Timamy.

During the meeting, Kenyatta requested Timamy to break ranks with the National Super Alliance (NASA) and instead work with Jubilee where there is guaranteed development.

Timammy, who had in September last year defected to Jubilee only to return to the Opposition three weeks later, stated that he was supportive of the President's party.

He, however, stated that he had not fully made up his mind and instead asked Kenyatta to return to his county in April when he would make a final decision.

The Lamu Governor is currently a member of the Amani National Congress (ANC) which is led by NASA co-principal Musalia Mudavadi.

Lamu, which is the smallest county in Kenya, has most of its leaders leaning on the Jubilee side including Senator Abu Chiaba, MPs Athman Shariff (Lamu East) and Julius Ndegwa (Lamu West).
