Omar al-Bashir's 25 year Rule Continues

Sudan's National Electoral Commission has announced the re-election of Omar al-Bashir as president with over 94 percent of the votes.

The closest competitor came in with just over 1 percent of the votes in an election that saw a low turnout of voters.

The win by Bashir has already sparked international outcry with some countries faulting Sudan for not conducting free and fair elections. They also claim the elections were not held in a conducive environment.

Bashir who has been in power for over 25 years first came into power in 1989 as a result of a coup and was later on in 2010 elected into office in an election that was met by cries of irregularities.

Bashir is currently wanted by the International Criminal Court for war crimes.
