Nairobi lawyer Ahmednassir Abdullahi has exposed a five-man police unit which he claims planned to assassinate him.
Recording a statement at the Kilimani Police Station, Ahmednassir claimed that the team had been assembled by DCI boss Ndegwa Muhoro and intended to take him out by end of March.
According to the lawyer, the unit comprised of among others, an officer he only referred to as Kamau, and had previously carried out similar missions.
Ahmednassir, who is former Law Society of Kenya (LSK) Chairman alleged that the plan failed to materialise because he was out of the country until April 2.
He claimed that upon jetting back, he received a call from a senior police officer who warned him about the assassination plan.
The lawyer further added that the informant divulged to him that the unit had been monitoring his movement and was aware he was not in the country.
The senior counsel alleged that Muhoro wanted him killed because he was a hindrance in a case involving the Tatu City Project in which Ahmednassir was representing Tatu City majority shareholder Stephen Jennings.
Ahmednassir requested Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet to form a special team to investigate the matter.
