LIST: Jubilee Leaders to Face CORD in IEBC Talks Unveiled

The Jubilee coalition has nominated an 11-member team to represent the Government in talks with the Opposition over the electoral body stalemate.

In a meeting chaired by President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy, Jubilee selected seven Members of Parliament including; Moses Kuria (Gatundu South), Cecile Mbarire (Runyenjes), Jimmy Angwenyi (Kitutu Chache North), Naomi Shaaban (Taveta), Benjamin Washiali (Mumias East), Mohammed Mahmoud (Mandera West) and Soipan Tuya (Narok).

The team has four Senators namely; Meru Senator Kiraitu MurungiKipchumba Murkomen of Elgeyo Marakwet, and Nominated Senators Fatuma Dullo and Beatrice Elachi.

The Jubilee leaders convened at State House on Thursday morning after President Kenyatta announced that a joint team would be formed to resolve the IEBC standoff.

"...a Joint Select Committee of both houses of Parliament be set up in accordance with the standing orders of both houses. The mandate of the committee will be strictly and exclusively the matter of IEBC," Uhuru stated during on Wednesday.

State House Spokesperson Manoah Esipisu noted that the ruling coalition would forward its proposal on the Joint Select Committee to Speakers of both Houses.

Jubilee has proposed that the Joint Select Committee be given a 30-day time frame to report back to Parliament.
