Lucy Kibaki Taken Abroad

Former President Mwai Kibaki's wife has been flown out of the country to receive further treatment after ailing for a long period.

Lucy Kibaki was reportedly taken abroad after the family solidly agreed it was the best decision.

According to a report by the Nation, a family source revealed that the information was factual stating: “It is true. It was necessary”.

Ms Kibaki, who has not been in the public eye for over five years, was on March 11 rushed to Gertrude’s Hospital at 5am and later transferred to Nairobi Hospital, where she was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit.

It is not public what the former First Lady is suffering from but during her last admission at the hospital, Kibaki’s Press Secretary Mr Ngare Gituku indicated that: "She is responding well to treatment and the doctors want to conduct a series of tests to ascertain that there is absolutely no issue that would crop up at any given time”.

News of her ailment moved Kenyans to send messages of good will to Ms Kibaki with many wishing her a quick recovery.
